From the graduating class of 2002, Raúl Oscar Chumbile Pantoja has had a very productive post-graduation career. From Baxter, he worked in Bogota, Colombia for three years and then returned to Peru to continue the work there. After returning to Peru, he worked with the Surquillo church of Christ for six years. Soon after his work there, Chumbile was asked to teach classes at the Inter-American Bible Institute (IBI) and is going on his eighth year there. While teaching classes, for the past four years he has also been busy supporting the Los Pinos, San Juan de Lurigancho church of Christ. On top of all the work he has been doing with IBI and the respective churches, he has also traveled through Peru doing seminars on counseling and spiritual growth. In fact, just last year, Chumbile finished Baxter’s Fifth Year Marriage and Family Counseling Program.
Teaching is a prevalent way in which Chumbile serves. There is no doubt it’s his passion. In his words, “my favorite part about being about the Lord’s Work is teaching because through teaching I am transmitting knowledge, morals, and spiritual development.” What a wonderful gift it is to be able to share and grow in the word of God with others! Chumbile gives much credit to Joshua 1:8-9 for continually giving him encouragement as he strives to walk in the ways of the Lord and help others along the way. Let us all reflect on the passage today: “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
